ASPCA: Petition

"

"The ASPCA has recently launched CATvsDOG.org, an online campaign to raise awareness about some of the most critical animal welfare issues today and to urge animal lovers across the country to support its drive towards ending animal cruelty.

"The goal of the nationwide online campaign is to incite one million Americans to sign a pledge to prevent cruelty and abuse," said ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres. "By signing the pledge and casting their vote, people are helping the ASPCA ensure animals have a voice in the upcoming election."

The campaign highlights eight important animal welfare issues such as puppy mills, “dangerous breed” bans, pets and family violence through the eyes of candidates Mittens-the-Cat and Rowdy-the-Dog. Candidate Mittens and Rowdy take humorous, opposing positions on each of the issues through intriguing debates that are summarized with facts to bring light to the seriousness of each topic.

"The ASPCA will deliver one million signatures collected from the online campaign to the newly elected president shortly after the presidential election is concluded," said Mr. Sayres. To date 366,533 signatures have already been collected.

Please Help The Wolves

"After more than a decade of conservation efforts and millions of federal dollars, wolves are finally returning to the northern Rockies.

Now, the Bush administration plans to remove wolves from the Endangered Species List and allow the states of Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana to wipe out nearly 80 percent of all the wolves remaining in the Northern Rockies!

The Wyoming Plan allows anyone to kill any wolf that wanders outside a small area in the northwest corner of the state. The plan would even target animals that live for most of the year in Yellowstone National Park but only wander out in the winter in search of food.

Tell Congress to oppose the Bush administrations plans and make sure wolves are protected in the northern Rockies!"

Pets And A Petition

Here is a great article about getting a pet for Christmas. A few years back my sister and I decided to get our mom a puppy for Christmas. After much thought we decided to wrap up a picture of the puppy instead. Sure enough our mom said she really didn't want a pet at that time. It saved everyone a lot of trouble.

"Now that the holidays are upon us, I wonder how many kittens and puppies will be under the tree for Christmas and dumped on the streets by New Year’s Day. Although it’s been said many times, many ways, it bears repeating every holiday season: Please, please, don’t get a pet for Christmas unless someone in the household will take the responsibility for it."

Please sign this petition:

"Antifreeze is sweet: animals...and sometimes children...are attracted to this common, but deadly, fluid. A simple bittering agent, denatonium benzoate would make this sweet, bright colored substance taste..yuck, and thousands of animals lives could be saved every year. Hundreds of children could be prevented from visiting emergency rooms. The cost minimal...just pennies per gallon. A small price to pay to save a life! Please help me get a bill introduced and passed into a law by signing this petition. I am eleven years old and lost my beloved golden retriever Sam and my faithful companion Jessie to intentional antifreeze poison. Two wonderful animals within days of one another. Please help me prevent other animals from suffering this horrible death. Please consider using your name instead of being anonymous this will help me with presenting the petition for consideration of a bill."
