Pets: Hurt By Foreclosures

"If you’ve been paying attention to the news at all lately, you know people are losing their homes to foreclosure all over the country. People aren’t the only ones being affected for the housing problem though. Pets are being left out in the cold - literally - as their owners leave them behind or drop them off at the local shelter. In Charlotte, NC and El Paso, TX humane societies are dealing with an influx of pets who have been abandoned in their empty homes or have been turned over by their owners when they lost their homes."

This article points out the real crisis that is having a domino effect which leaves owners abandoning pets. Michigan has the highest unemployment in the nation & foreclosures are rampant. Other states suffer from the economic and housing market turndown. Thank you for this article highlighting the plight of pets at this time. It is very sad. alpha99wolf

The home I bought back in July was going into foreclosure. On the day we closed, the family still had not moved the dog. Each time we came to the house for inspections, the dog was outside without food or water. I often felt I cared more about this pooch than the owners. His owners did finally come get him, but I often wonder what happened to him when they left.

Thanks for commenting Lisa. It's a scary thought.Makes me wonder if they care anything for the poor dog. I will never understand how people can be so cruel but they are.
