Heartless Cruelty

This is absolutely the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. No law??? If you love pets this article will break your heart.

"When Limestone County resident Jeannie Overton went door-to-door looking for her lost dog, Jeb, she was shocked to learn his whereabouts.

Overton, 26, let her dog out at 7 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, to roam while she went to work.

When the dog failed to return by Saturday, Overton decided to comb the neighborhood for him.

“I went door to door to show a picture of my dog,” Overton said. “Some people said they saw him and some said they didn’t. I said to myself, ‘I’m going to one more house.’

She stopped at the home of Roy Tucker, 76, of 20596 Tucker Road."

**Read the conclusion.**

No there is not a law! There ought to be a law that people keep there dogs tied up and not roaming around the neighborhood!!! I know this man and live on Tucker Rd. That dog growled at my 2 year old and chased my little dog around our yard. Thank GOD for people like Mr.Tucker who won't take the carelessness of others not tying up their dog. What about the rights of a 76 year old man and his cows???? Animal rights should be for ALL animals. Not just dogs!

Thank you for your comment. If Mr. Tucker's cow gets loose should I shoot it before trying to find the owner or calling to have Animal Control pick it up? There are so many options besides cruel ones.
Did you report the incident with your child? Talk to the owner?
Yes, animal rights should be for ALL animals and they should all be protected from men like this.

Well, I will say this. The paper didn't put this but I will. Mr.Tucker called the sheriff of the county who lives down the road from him and was told BY THE SHERIFF that IF THE DOG DOES NOT HAVE A TAG then he couldn't talk to the owner because he didn't know who it belonged to and to SHOOT THE DAMN THING!!!! And by the way, all of Mr.Tucker's cows are tagged.

If he called Mike Blakely that comment wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Heaven help these people.

I don't know either the Tucker man nor the Overton lady but I'd have to side with the Tucker man on this. If he had called the pound to come get the dog one of his cows could have gotten hurt by that time. I hate that girl's dog is dead but everyone knows it wouldn't have happened if she had taken responsibility for it. He had to defend what what rightfully his. He's an older man so those cows are probably is income and how he makes his living. Maybe she's learned an imposrtant lesson before she buys the next dog.

Roll Tide,

I agree that she has probably learned a valuable lesson. If she lives in the county there is no leash law so she can't be blamed for letting the dog roam. I live in the county and cats and dogs wander around here. One cat sleeps under my house.
"He had to defend what what rightfully his." God help us if he decides a person bothers his cows.

Quote from you Jericho "there is no leash law so she can't be blamed for letting the dog roam" Well there is no law for shooting an animal that chases your cows so he can't be blamed for shooting a roaming dog. The law is written how it should be. And for you to go as far as saying that this elderly man would shoot a person who messed with his cows is the craziest thing I believe I have ever heard. This man has taken care of his sick wife for over 25 years and a dog, yes dog not a human being, was chasing his cows. GET OVER IT!

Grow up jericho. I read the article in the courier and have to agree with Mr. Tucker. If the fiance' was at home he should be responsible for the death of the dog. Plus what is to say that Mr. Tucker didn't know that the dog was domesticated animal. Coyote's are really bad in that part of the country (and they do chase cows). He could have believed it was that until he went out and looked and discovered it was a dog(one with no collar). If you have never seen a coyote I'm sure the zoo has one!

"He had to defend what what rightfully his." I said: "God help us if he decides a person bothers his cows."
So, he would not shoot me if I ran out through there chasing his cows? He would most likely think I was a crazy person. It wouldn't be right for him to shoot me since he'd simply be defending what's his??

I don't have to get over it and laws can be changed as they should be.

It would be right for him to shoot your ass you would be trespassing!

MAYBE YOU NEED TO BE SHOT OR MAYBE YOU NEED GOD TO HELP YOU.
AS THE OTHER PERSON SAID. GET OVER IT. AGAIN
IF YOU ARE A TRESSPASSER ON SOMEONES PRIVATE PROPERTY (A CRAZY PERSON AS YOU PUT) PROBABLY NEEDS TO TAKE OUT OF ITS MISERY.
AND AS BOB BARKS SAYS
PLEASE NEUTER & SPAY YOUR ANIMALS.

Laws can be changed but in this this case they won't. No one cares when someone kills a dog when there is a just reason.

I myself checked with our city dog pound and they said if a dog is loose in the county, you have to catch the dog yourself and tie it and then they will come and get it.

Since this is my blog and my opinion I do not have to "get over it."

"IF YOU ARE A TRESSPASSER ON SOMEONES PRIVATE PROPERTY (A CRAZY PERSON AS YOU PUT) PROBABLY NEEDS TO TAKE OUT OF ITS MISERY."

So, we may now shoot anyone we decide needs to be taken out of their misery? Commit murder?
