Lady

For some reason I was reminded today of a dog my sister and I had when we were growing up. Lady was a beautiful, loving bulldog and we loved her as much as she loved us.

Lady made us laugh. We lived in a small subdivision then and there wasn't much traffic. Lady's favorite place to lay down for a nap was in the middle of the street. Nothing we said or did could change that. Everybody knew her so they'd drive up, blow their horn, and she'd get up and move to let them by.

One day she didn't move fast enough and a car tapped her leg and broke it. We thought that would be the end of her naps in the street but she went right back to her old ways before her leg even healed.

She would often follow us to school which was about 3 miles away. The teacher would call my dad and he'd come pick her up. She never stopped doing that either. She'd follow us at least three days a week.

Lady lived a long, happy life. The day came, of course, when she passed away in her sleep. Yes, she was laying in the middle of her street when it happened.

We still remember Lady with love.

This is not Lady but sure comes close.

Very nice. I love that moment when you vividly remember an animal you use to know. And how remembering them can connect you to your past.

I love Bulldogs. UGA is such a great mascot for the Georgia Bulldogs. Wonderful memory of your dog and childhood.

Thank you both for commenting.

Tero, I love that too. Thinking about Lady is like being with her all over again.

Debby, I knew you'd like the bulldog.
